Again, Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District endorses Ekere for governorship election

January 24, 2019

The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Nsima Ekere, has again been endorsed by the people of Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District, the most populous senatorial district in the state, for the March 2, 2019 governorship election.

Obong Ekere was endorsed through a motion moved by a former representative of the senatorial district in the National Assembly, Senator John Udoedehe, seconded by the APC Senate Candidate for the senatorial district, Elder Bassey Etim, and unanimously carried by the crowd, numbering over 15,000, at a rally held in Uyo on Wednesday.

Senator Udoedehe assured Obong Ekere that he will win massively, convincingly and totally in Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District which hosts the state capital, Uyo.

He clarified that the previous endorsement of Ekere by the senatorial district in September 2018 was done when Ekere was a governorship aspirant.

“We are now endorsing him as a candidate,” said Udoedehe who contested the APC governorship primary with Ekere. “Tell our people in the market, church and everywhere that Senator Udoedehe and other leaders of Uyo (Akwa Ibom North-East) Senatorial District have endorsed Obong Nsima Ekere as the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State. This is a good man.”
Also speaking, the Managing Director of Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority, Mr. Umana Umana, represented by his wife, Florence, said it was clear that Obong Ekere was going to win the governorship election.

Responding, Obong Ekere expressed appreciation to the people of the senatorial district for the endorsement and promised to carry them along in his administration.

“We will run a government involving stakeholders and in which Uyo Senatorial District will be carried along,” he said.

Obong Ekere reiterated his plan to banish poverty in the state and to pay bursary to students of Akwa Ibom origin when he becomes Governor.
