Ekere restates commitment to Akwa Ibom’s prosperity

…preaches peace, political tolerance

Obong Nsima Ekere, the Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, has again assured the people of Akwa Ibom of his plan to engender the collective prosperity of the state, if elected Governor.

Speaking at the Uyo Township Stadium in Uyo during the flag-off of the APC campaigns in the state on Monday, Ekere said the content of his blueprint, when implemented, will fast-track the all-around prosperity of Akwa Ibom.

“As contained in our manifesto, economic prosperity, infrastructure and rural development, education, health and soocial protection, security, governance and institutional reforms which are the five pillars of a new vision for our collective prosperity will improve the fortunes of this state….Akwa Ibom must be great again. Prosperity must come to this state,” he said.

He promised to build on the legacies of his predecessors.

Speaking further, Ekere cautioned against the resort to ethnic sentiments by the opposing party as the electioneering season becomes intense.

“I’ve insisted that the campaigns in 2019 must be about performance. We must concentrate on issues. I keep saying that, as a necessity, this campaign is a referendum on the performance of the present government in the past three and a half years.

“Please, do not bring division to Akwa Ibom State. Akwa Ibom State is one; this is not about Ibibio, Annang, Oron, Eket, Obolo, it is about Akwa Ibom State. Let us be careful to ensure that we do not allow politics to divide us.”

The event featured presentation of flags to Senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates.

Dignitaries including the Governor of Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and Senator Magnus Abe graced the event.

Bigwigs of the party in Akwa Ibom State including Senator Godswill Akpabio, Dr. Amadu Attai, Atuekong Don Etiebet, Hon. Ini Okopido, Senator John Udoedehe, Obong Umana Okon Umana and Group Captain Sam Ewang (Rtd.) were also in attendance.
