The Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Nsima Ekere, has been endorsed for the March 2, 2019 election by the people of his clan, Edemaya, in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area.
The endorsement came from youths, women, titled chiefs and the Edemaya Clan Council during a meeting called by Mboho Edemaya, the umbrella organization of Edemaya people, at Ekpene Enin, Edemaya, on Sunday.

He commended Ekere for the massive construction of roads in Edemaya Clan and urged him to do more for his people as Governor.
Responding, Ekere thanked his people for their show of love and support, pointing out that the turnout was unprecedented in the history of Edemaya Clan.
He intimated his people of the overwhelming support he has received from the rest of the state and the visits of the Wife or the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, and President Muhammadu Buhari to Akwa Ibom State, in quick succession in the last two weeks, which further boosted his candidacy.
Ekere, who is the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), enumerated the various completed road projects in Edemaya undertaken by the NDDC, under his watch, and promised his people more projects before he leaves his present position.
To this end, Ekere announced that construction work on a bridge to link Edemaya Clan with Ikpa Ibekwe Clan, the local government headquarters, will commence in January 2019.
Similarly, construction work is to start in January on a road linking Ikot Andien, Edemaya, to the East – West Road while contract will be awarded for the construction of Edemaya Civic Centre, complete with a mini-stadium, that same month.
Ekere assured his people that those projects will be completed even after his exit from the NDDC.
The APC standard bearer announced the award of scholarship up to university level to Christ Kids, a group of three very young sisters who thrilled the crowd with their songs and a Secondary School II student of Midtown Secondary Commercial School, Miss Imoanwan Monday, who held everyone spellbound with her rendition of Ekere’s profile.
