The Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Nsima Ekere, has expressed appreciation to Akwa Ibom people for turning out massively to receive President Muhammadu Buhari who was in the state on Friday for the presidential campaign rally flag-off for the South-South Zone.
Ekere spoke during the solemnization of marriage between his Aide-de-Camp, Mr. Ekong Udofia, and his wife, Aniefiok, at the Sanctified Mount Zion Church, Udo Otung Ubo, Uyo, on Saturday.
He described the massive turnout as the outpouring of love for the President by Akwa Ibom people.
Ekere, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), also spoke on the significance of the President’s visit, his first since he assumed office three and a half years ago.
His words: “For the very first time, Akwa Ibom had the privilege of hosting the President. You know he has not come in the last three and a half years. He came to announce to Akwa Ibom people that it is time to move to the next level from poverty and unemployment plaguing the state.”
Ekere appreciated his endorsement by members of the church but urged them to go out and vote on election day in order to elect the APC government that will flush out poverty and unemployment in the state.
The APC standard bearer was also in Ikot Akpabin, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, on Saturday for the funeral of Envoy Emmanuel Ukim, the father of his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Mr. Utibe Ukim.
