The Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Nsima Ekere, has promised to declare a state of emergency on the poor infrastructure in Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency if elected Governor, next year.
Ekere, who spoke during a solidarity rally by the Ini Local Government Chapter of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) to honour him, President Muhammadu Buhari and Senator Godswill Akpabio, lamented the dilapidated state of infrastructure, especially roads, in the two sister local government areas and pledged to turn things around.
He pointed out that he was already intervening in Ini through his position as the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) with several NDDC projects ongoing in the area.
Ekere announced that the commission would soon embark on the construction of the Ananamong – Ebo Itu Mbonuso Road as well as the Odoro Ikpe – Mbiabet Ikpe Road to provide a link road to the popular rice farm.
He promised to establish a rice mill in Ini as Governor in contrast to the deception by the present State Government.
“I will ensure that Ini will smile again,” Ekere pledged.
He faulted the State Government’s claim that Akwa Ibom was the most peaceful state in the country even when two local government areas in the state were completely deserted because of violence that the government failed to stop for about three years.
The Member representing Ikono State Constituency in the House of Assembly, Mr. Victor Udofia, eulogized Ekere for restarting the construction of the Mbiabong Ikot Udofia – Nkari Road which was an abandoned NDDC project.
